BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) — State officials say 3M will expand its manufacturing capabilities in its Brookings facility and add 29 jobs.

The South Dakota Board of Economic Development has approved has a reinvestment payment of up to $234,000 to offset the sales and use tax paid on eligible equipment costs incurred during the project.

The Governor's Office of Economic Development will provide $17,000 in Workforce Development Program funds to assist with new employee training.

3M was the first company to receive approval under the investment program.

Brandon-based Marmen Energy has also been approved for a reinvestment payment of up to $600,000 for the wind tower maker's expansion project.
