DELL RAPIDS, S.D. (AP) — Two ducks are causing a dilemma in Dell Rapids.

The Dana Stelzer family has two pet ducks in their backyard. Huey and Louie have become a hit in the neighborhood over the past six months — but their days might be numbered.

Dell Rapids ordinance bans ducks, geese and chickens in city limits. City Administrator Justin Weiland tells KDLT-TV residents can request an exemption from the City Council, but the Stelzer family didn't take that step.

The family has been informed that their ducks have to hit the road. Dana Stelzer says the birds don't bother anyone, and he plans to ask the City Council to let Huey and Louie stay.

He's also launching an online effort to "Save the Ducks" and petition the city to change the ordinance.
