The storm that swept across South Dakota this week continued across the upper Midwest into Michigan, where whiteout conditions contributed to a fiery 150+ vehicle pileup on I-94 that shut down the interstate and left one person dead and hundreds stranded.

A 57-year old truck driver from Canada was killed in the massive accident, and two dozen more injured, including two firefighters working the scene. It turned into a hazardous materials situation and included a fireworks truck explosion that you can see in the news video above.

Michigan State Police had to use buses to evacuate people involved in the accident that closed both east and west lanes for 14 hours Friday.
