A suspect and his friend brought a nearly four hour stand-off to a peaceful end near 14th and Duluth in Sioux Falls on Tuesday July 5, 2016.

A detective was investigating a recent domestic assault case to follow up and the suspect refused to speak to the detective.

After the detective left, the suspect’s girlfriend escaped the house and called police claiming the suspect refused to let her leave the house for up to two days, being held at knife point.

There was information the suspect had firearms inside the house in the 600 Block of South Duluth Avenue.  SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiators were called to the home.

At 4:10 PM the suspect and a friend both left the house and peacefully surrendered.

Detectives are working on determining the appropriate charges.
