After a year that saw the Minnesota Twins set a record for most home runs hit in one season, hitting coach James Rowson is leaving for a bigger position with the Miami Marlins.

ESPN's Jeff Passan is reporting that Rowson has accepted an offer to become the offensive coordinator and bench coach for the Marlins. Rowson has been a member of the Twins staff since 2017.

He spent the last three seasons with the Twins and also served as a hitting coach of the Chicago Cubs from 2012-2013. Between stints, Rowson worked as a coach for the New York Yankees minor league staff.

Rowson joins a Marlins team that is in need of boosting offensive production. The Marlins finished the 2019 season 57-105 and had a run differential of -193.
