Man Pleads Not Guilty to Attempted Murder in Yankton Shooting
YANKTON, S.D. (AP) — A 19-year-old man who was shot by a Yankton police officer has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and other charges.
Trae Angel was arraigned Monday.
Authorities say Yankton police responded to a 911 domestic disturbance call involving a gun at a Yankton residence Sept. 1 but did not find the suspect at the residence. Officers from several agencies began an hour-long search before finding the man in a downtown alley that night.
Yankton Police Sgt. Jason Foote shot Angel, who was armed. Details of the incident have not been released, but are expected in a report to be issued in about two weeks.
It's unclear whether Angel has legal representation.
Bond for the Yankton man was set at $270,000 cash only.
