July 21 (Wednesday)...TECHNICAL CAREER DAY AT THE BALLPARK...The South Dakota Wind Energy Association (SDWEA) is hosting Career Night at the Ballpark in the Canaries parking lot on Wednesday, July 21 from 5-7 pm. Four regional technical colleges and several businesses will participate in the tailgate event. Interactive displays will include demonstration trailers and hands-on equipment from career fields such as wind technicians, welders, construction workers, linemen, truck drivers, electricians and many others. This event will promote workforce development in these industries, create career outreach for both the job seeker and the employer and introduce awareness among the technical trades industry to the public. July 24 (Saturday)...HOT CLASSICS NIGHT - CLASSIC CAR SHOW...Nyberg's Ace is finalizing plans for Downtown Sioux Falls’ largest car show: the 4th Annual Hot Classics Night Classic Car Show on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 4:00pm – 10:00pm. The event takes place Downtown Sioux Falls on First Avenue between 11th & 14th Street, near Nyberg’s Ace Downtown Sioux Falls location. The classic car & truck show welcomes all classic vehicles with NO registration fee required, show vehicles can begin arriving at 2pm. To fuel its visitors, various food truck vendors will be on site for the event while beverage sales will be offered by El Riad Shrine Classie Autos to help benefit local kids in the Sioux Falls area. Live music from the mid-50’s to the early 90’s will be heard as visitors stroll through the classic car showcase, featuring local bands Last Call and Surfin’ Safari. The live music stage will be located in the parking lot of Nyberg's Ace Downtown store. In the past, the Hot Classics Night event has drawn over 10,000 people in attendance and over 500 cars on display. July 24, 25 (Saturday, Sunday)...CALL TO HONOR: 100TH ANNIVERSARY TOMB OF THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER...To honor the 100th Anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, (1921-2021), there will be a two-day commemorative event at The Alliance which will feature the travelling exhibit "A Call to Honor: The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Replica". This event is a traveling exhibit with a 1/2 scale reproduction of the monument to honor American service members whose remains have not been identified. It is being sponsored by the Mary Chilton Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, South Dakota Society Daughters of the American Revolution, SD Military Heritage Alliance, and the Mary Chilton DAR Foundation. It is open to the public, free of charge, on Saturday, July 24 and Sunday, July 25 between 9 am and 5 pm. Throughout this time, programs will be held on stage including live patriotic music and guest speakers. As a special tribute, the Singing Legionnaires will perform on Saturday at 10:30 am and the Sioux Falls Municipal Band will play in concert on Sunday at 3 pm. Saturday night, from 6:30 pm - 9 pm, will feature a special “evening out” to honor Midwest Honor Flight. The $30 tickets, which can be purchased through the SouthDakotaAlliance.org website, will provide a buffet meal, live music from A.G. Jamboree, and special access to the "A Call to Honor: Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Replica".
