Kate Martin was 'The Glue' that held the Iowa women's basketball team together. Now, she'll hold together a WNBA franchise.

Hawk Central and other sources have confirmed that former Hawkeye Kate Martin is officially a WNBA player! Martin made the opening day roster for the two-time defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces!

Martin was a second-round pick by the Aces in the WNBA Draft. She went on to impress coaches and players during training camp and survived five cuts and one additional signing to make the Ace's opening-day roster. Her new teammates are WNBA royalty. Two-time MVP A'ja Wilson. All-Stars Kelsey Plum, Chelsea Gray, and Jackie Young. And Hawk Central reports that Martin will even be joined by another Hawkeye! Former Iowa star Megan Gustafson also made the Ace's roster!

While Martin's nickname at Iowa might have been 'The Glue', All-Star guard Kelsey Plum has another name for Martin that just might stick. Hawk Central reports that Plum said, "We nicknamed her 'Kate Money Martin' so I think that could stick because she really is."

Iowa fans will get to see Martin and the Las Vegas Aces tip off the WNBA season tonight as the Aces host Phoenix tonight! The game will be televised on ESPN2 and also streamed on Disney+. You can check out the complete season schedule for Kate Martin and the Las Vegas Aces HERE.
