Times are tough. The cost of things is high, across the board. If we know that prices are high for us, we know that companies are also feeling the pinch. Since the pandemic, we've seen hundreds if not thousands of stores and businesses close nationwide due to financial reasons. One national branded restaurant chain has been secretly closing locations across the country, so is Minnesota's lone Hooters going to survive?

That's right, Hooters is still alive. The business however must not be doing fantastically as it has been 'secretly' closing locations nationwide. Many employees have no idea that anything is wrong, and when they show up to work the building is locked and there is a sign on the door.

That's a tough way to learn you no longer have a job.

Back in June, numerous news outlets reported that 40+ locations had closed:

According to the USA Today: "At least 44 Hooters locations have shut their doors permanently as the restaurant chain is grappling with 'pressure from current market conditions,' according to a statement."

So are Hooters done closing its stores? Hopefully.

Minnesota's lone Hooters sits inside the Mall of America, but we've seen stores inside the MOA close over the years, sometimes without much warning.

While the company told USA Today back in June that the closures were about 'current market conditions', it could also be that the idea of a restaurant like Hooters just doesn't make sense in 2024, and people just aren't interested in eating a Hooters for their 'wings'.

Time will tell what happens to the 80s & 90s pop culture restaurant that is Hooters.
