It's the day after Halloween. It's OK if you feel like you touch an exposed wire, staying up late 'checking' the kid's candy, and or cleaning up from a Halloween party, it can take it out of you, but know that through all of yesterday's weather, you survived a new weather record. One that had been set back during the infamous 1991 Halloween blizzard.

No, we didn't set a new snowfall record, but it has something to do with snowfall. For reference, back in 1991, St. Cloud had roughly 12" of snowfall from Oct 31st through November 1st. Yesterday we didn't come close to that here in Central Minnesota, but we did see some significant precipitation.

So we may have fallen well short of the snowfall record, but the 1.26" of rain and melted snow did surpass the 0.85" of liquid in 1991 to make 2024 the wettest Halloween on record in the Twin Cities!

That is roughly a difference of 1/2 an inch, think of how much snow could have fallen from that much moisture/rain!?!

The weather didn't seem to dampen Trick or Treating across parts of Central Minnesota, I had about the same amount as in years past, however, most kids seemed to be out earlier, which made sense with how cold it was going to get overnight.

The good news, at least for those who don't care for the snowy wet weather, is that the temps are going to warm back up into the 50s, however, there is rain forecasted for the end of the weekend.
