Clear Out Your Yard At Sioux Falls’ Drop-off Spots
The City of Sioux Falls has opened two free seasonal leaf-and-branch drop sites from now until May 24th.
The sites are located on North Lyon Boulevard near the Sioux Empire Fairgrounds (access is available from West 12th Street or West Madison Street) and on Chambers Street near the city’s Household Hazardous Waste Facility (access is available from North Cliff Avenue.. Both drop sites are open 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5:00 PM Sunday.
The drop sites are for residential use only. Cars, pickups, full-size SUVs, vans, and trailers are accepted. Materials from lawn service companies, commercial businesses, and double-axle trailers are not accepted and must be taken directly to the Sioux Falls Regional Landfill.

Leaves and branches must be separated, and leaves must be removed from plastic bags. Leaves in paper bags are acceptable. All loads must be covered with a tarp or transported in an enclosed vehicle. Plastic bags, stumps, rubble, and household garbage are not accepted.
Discarded branches are ground up and repurposed into mulch, while leaves are composted. Residents can pick up compost for free year-round at the landfill and seasonal drop sites. Compost is available during operating hours on a first-come, first-served basis, and residents must collect and carry it themselves.
