Portions of West 12th Street were closed for a suspected shooting early Tuesday evening. police and a suspect exchanged gunfire, an officer was struck and received non-life threating injuries. The suspect fled and was captured near Beresford, SD.

Reports are coming in for a possible shooting on West 12th St. Tuesday afternoon. Original reports indicated that an officer may have been injured although this has not been confirmed.

West 12th street between Kiwanis and S. Western Avenue were busy dealing with wet and windy weather and a suspect at large who may have been involved in the shooting. Police have closed the area and are requesting drivers use other routes to avoid slowdowns, congestion, and public safety until all is resolved.
