Check Out Top 5 Friendliest Cities in South Dakota
You hear about "Minnesota nice" all the time, but what about South Dakota? I like to think we live in a fairly friendly state. Of course, sometimes the people you meet in certain traffic situations don't always come across that way.
But for the most part, South Dakotans tend to be a very generous and friendly group of people. That isn't just my opinion either.
Next Door, an app and website that connects neighbors with each other seems to think so too. In fact, they've rounded up the friendliest cities in the state and we're going to check out the top five.

1. Lead, South Dakota
According to Next Door, Lead is a super-friendly community "known for its rich mining history and the Sanford Underground Research Facility". It gets bonus points for being "nestled in the Black Hills" where nature and wildlife surround this clean and dog-friendly (too) town.
2. Sturgis, South Dakota
You're thinking "the home of the world's largest bike rally is a friendly city?" Absolutely. Again, it gets points for being in the Hills, great scenery, and most of the time being a quiet, close-knit community.
3. Box Elder, South Dakota
Named after the Box Elder trees that stand along Box Elder Creek, this quiet little town got high marks for its quiet, safe neighborhoods, dog-friendly parks and great community spirit. It gets bonus points for being a close neighbor to Ellsworth Air Force Base.
4. Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Next Door gave Sioux Falls high marks for its walkability, parks system, and dog-friendliness. I give it bonus points for a thriving economy, booming arts and dining scene, and so much more, but that's just me. And yes, I do think that overall Sioux Falls is a pretty friendly place for being a very sizable city.
5. I'll be honest, when I saw North Sioux City on this list I had to admit that I knew nothing about the town. But it is described as "peaceful and well-maintained" as well as being very welcoming, clean and family-oriented. Everything a friendly city should be.
