Dollar General has revealed plans to close almost 100 locations nationwide. What does that mean for stores in Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota?

Minnesota has around 208 Dollar General stores, Iowa has 297, while there are 71 locations in South Dakota.

The retail chain will shutter 96 Dollar General stores along with 45 Pop-Shelf locations. Additionally, six Pop-Shelf stores will be converted into Dollar General outlets.

To date, Dollar General representatives have not specified which locations will be affected by the mass closings.

These closures represent less than 1% of the company's total retail footprint. Dollar General has not released a specific list of which stores will be affected.

The company maintains a substantial presence across the United States, operating more than 20,000 stores under various banners including Dollar General, DG Market, DGX, and Pop-Shelf throughout 48 states.
