Summer. It's so close you can almost feel it. In fact, with two 90-degree days already behind us, you know there will be even more ahead.

What goes great with hot summer weather? That would be cool water to splash around in. And that is what the "First Splash of Summer" is all about!

You're invited to this special event at the newly renovated Hayward Park at 400 North Valley View Road in Sioux Falls on Friday, May 19, at 4:30 PM.

You'll be able to see all of the Hayward Park renovations including a splash pad with shade structures and restrooms; an off-leash dog park with artificial turf and drinking fountain; a 1/4-mile concrete walking loop; an obstacle-style playground; and a large, irrigated lawn area for open space play.

A Hayward Elementary school student will be the person who gets to activate the splash park for the first time that day. That is why this event will be the official "First Splash of Summer", as all other Sioux Falls aquatic facilities will open on Friday, June 2.

So suit up or just be ready to make a splash this Friday, May 19 at the new Hayward Park Splash Pad!
