Weather Alert: Winter Storm And Blizzard Conditions to Impact Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota.

According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls Heavy Snowfall and strong winds will affect plans for the Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota area. 

Winter Weather Advisory

Effective: Wednesday, 1 AM to 1 PM CDT

Areas Affected Includes portions of southwest Minnesota and southeast South Dakota.

What to Expect:

• Snow accumulations of 2-4 inches with isolated higher amounts possible
• Wind gusts up to 50 mph causing blowing and drifting snow
• Significantly reduced visibility at times

Blizzard Warning

Effective: Wednesday, 4 AM to 7 PM 

Counties Affected Include: Lyon, Osceola, Dickinson, Sioux, O'Brien, Clay, Plymouth, Cherokee, Buena Vista, Woodbury, Ida, Cottonwood, Nobles, Jackson, Dixon, Dakota, Clay, Union

What to Expect:

• Blizzard conditions with snow accumulations of 4-9 inches
• Isolated areas may receive up to 12 inches
• Wind gusts up to 60 mph

Impacts:

• Travel may be very difficult to impossible
• Widespread blowing snow, significantly reducing visibility
• Wednesday morning and evening commutes will be affected
• Possible tree damage from strong winds
