Halloween Candy Trends: South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa
I'm not a fan of scary movies or being scared in general, but I like Halloween for one reason: the candy! Now that I am too old to trick or treat, I have no shame in going to Lewis and buying bags just for myself. How else am I supposed to get them?!
We are in prime-time candy season and I thought it would be fun to see what the favorite candy is in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa.
According to Instacart, the people with the biggest sweet tooth in the entire country reside in the upper Midwest. Nebraska came in third place in the entire country as the state with people with a self-proclaimed sweet tooth. Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota are close behind.
In South Dakota, M&M's are the most popular candy, followed by peanut M&M's, Snickers, and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
Minnesota loves Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, M&M's, and Starbursts.
Iowa craves Reese' Peanut Butter Cups, M&M's, Twix, and Milky Way.
The one thing all these candies have in common is, besides the Starbursts, they all have chocolate. Even if your favorite candy is not on the list (I'm looking at you candy corn!) I think we can agree that this is the best season of the year to be a candy fan.
