Monday, the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch that includes parts of southeastern South Dakota as well as parts of western Iowa and Minnesota.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 11:00 PM tonight (Monday, April 28).

In South Dakota, Bon Homme, Clay, Hutchinson, Lincoln, Turner, Union, and Yankton Counties are in the Watch area. Parts of South Sioux Falls are in Lincoln County.

The entire city of Sioux Falls should be prepared for severe weather tonight.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

   The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

   * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
     Northwest Iowa
     Northeast Nebraska
     Southeast South Dakota

   * Effective this Monday evening from 600 PM until 1100 PM CDT.

   * Primary threats include...
     Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2
       inches in diameter possible
     Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

   SUMMARY...Multiple supercells along and near a cold front should
   pose a threat for mainly large hail up to 1-2 inches in diameter
   through the evening. Occasional severe/damaging winds may also
   occur.

   The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 45
   statute miles north and south of a line from 45 miles west southwest
   of Yankton SD to 20 miles south of Spencer IA. For a complete
