Lainey Wilson may not have been so honest about Miranda Lambert if she knew the "Wranglers" singer would hear about it.

Then again, maybe she would have?

During separate interviews with Taste of Country Nights, Wilson and Lambert talked about what they admire most about each other.

"Her grit. Her determination. I just love how she's had longevity," Wilson said of Lambert. "She has this spitfire spirt about her that's contagious."

The friendship began with a text on Wilson's birthday several years ago. It was Lambert asking if she'd be up for hanging out or writing some songs.

"It's like, what did we do here? All it was was country music and it made a train wreck out of this room."

"I knew before she even knew me, I was like, once we meet we'll be friends because we have a lot in common," the "4X4XU" singer said.

Wilson was right.

"I love her. She's the best," Lambert tells show host Evan Paul. "Lainey's the best. I'm so proud of her. Watching her star rise and just how she carries herself and is authentically herself, she stands out because of that."

"Good Horses," from Wilson's Whirlwind album, is their only official collaboration at this time. It sounds like they have fun together, so fans can expect more. Actually, maybe they have too much fun.

ToC asked Wilson to fill in this blank: One time I got drunk with Miranda and ____.

"Smoked too many cigarettes," Wilson answered with a heart laugh. "I don't smoke unless I'm around her."

"We were songwriting, it doesn't count," Lambert says, admitting that's the case. "There has been writes I've been in where you take a picture of the table and it's like candy and wrappers and beer cans and cigs — it's like, what did we do here? All it was was country music and it made a train wreck out of this room."

Lambert talked to ToC in support of her new Postcards from Texas album. Full, unedited interviews with both women can be found below on the Taste of Country Nights: On Demand podcast.
