New Casting Calls For Paid Background Actors Set For Minnesota

There have been a lot of movies, commercials, and more filmed in Minnesota in recent years. When that happens, there is often the need for paid talent, such as background actors.

Getting hired as a paid extra can make for some long days, but it's also a lot of fun. I know from first-hand experience having spent a day as a paid background actor on 'Merry Kiss Cam', the Christmas movie filmed in Duluth in 2022.

I remember that day very well. It was hot, but we had to pretend it was winter and dress accordingly. I ended up being involved in a few scenes and while I had a few changes of clothes, they provided things for me as well, including an elf hat for one scene.

I guess my long day paid off because when the movie was released, I started getting a lot of texts from friends and family who paused on a part of 'Merry Kiss Cam' where I was alone on screen. Of course, it was with that elf hat.

In case you're wondering, I was not nominated for an Oscar. However, I would be part of another production in a heartbeat, and if you would like to be considered for future projects, you'll soon have the opportunity to get your photo and information added to a database that producers and directors use for casting in Minnesota.

2 Open Casting Calls For Paid Background Actors Being Held In Minnesota

According to a recent Facebook post from Bill Marinella Casting, they are holding an open call for paid background actors in the Minneapolis area on Saturday, September 14th, and in Duluth on Sunday, September 15th.

This is your chance to get your photo added to the CastBMC database, which is used by their casting directors and production teams for upcoming projects.

These casting calls are free to join. There’s never a cost to sign up or be hired for any productions they cast for. Here are the details for each casting call.

Minneapolis Casting Call

• Where: Tasty Lighting Supply, 2740 E. 27th Street in Minneapolis
• When: Saturday, September 14. Come anytime between 11 am and 2 pm
• What To Expect: They will take photos of you for your CastBMC profile and answer any questions you have.

Duluth Casting Call

• Where: Radisson Hotel Duluth - Harborview, 505 W. Superior Street in Duluth
• When: Sunday, September 15. Come anytime between 1 pm and 4 pm
• What To Expect: They will take photos of you for your CastBMC profile and answer any questions you have.

Attendees are encouraged to dress to impress or show off their unique style. Bill Marinella Casting will not only be there to answer questions, but they will also assist with any CastBMC database issues.
