Take a deep breath because this snowfall isn't for the Duluth or Superior area - yet. Instead, it will hit further up north. However, the first snow in our region is always a landmark occasion.

The National Weather Service of Duluth reported on the first snowflakes of the season over the weekend, sharing the news on social media bright and early on Saturday (October 12th).

According to the National Weather Service of Duluth, a very light dusting of snow will hit parts of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and parts of the Gunflint Trail.

Just how much snow is in the forecast? About a quarter of an inch. That means we are really tiptoeing into winter here in northern Minnesota, which is fine by me.

The good news is that, while winter is coming whether we like it or not, it won't be anytime soon - at least not this week in Duluth!

According to NWS of Duluth, we will warm right back up tomorrow and gradually for the rest of the week! I like this idea of slowly dipping our toes into winter rather than it starting with a massive snowstorm.

The Old Farmer's Almanac did say that our region can expect the first snow sometime in mid to late October. They either killed it with their prediction or there is a larger snowfall on the way.
