Doobie Brothers, Michael McDonald Add Sioux City Date to Reunion Tour

 When the Doobie Brothers first announced dates for their 2020 50th Anniversary Tour with Michael McDonald, there was not a single show in our area.

Less than a week later all that has changed.

The Doobies and McDonald will now be in the Upper Midwest three times next summer, including a Wednesday, August 12, date at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, a Saturday, August 15, show at the Starlight Theatre in Kansas City and a Friday, August 28, concert at the Minnesota State Fair in St. Paul.

Tickets for all Doobie Brothers/Michael McDonald shows go on sale Friday, November 29.

In April 1975, McDonald was recruited by the band as a temporary replacement for lead vocalist Tom Johnston, who had become ill during a national tour, but McDonald eventually stayed as a full-time member until the band broke up in 1982.

McDonald appeared on four Doobies' albums (Takin' It to the Streets, Livin' on the Fault Line, Minute By Minute, and One Step Closer) and sang lead vocals on three of the band's biggest hit songs ('Takin' It to the Streets', 'What a Fool Believes', and 'Minute By Minute'McDonald reunited as a guest performer with the Doobie Brothers several times since in the past few years.
