Dangerous Wind Chills to Start Week
Cold temps and winds will combine to create some dangerous conditions on Monday and Tuesday this week.
The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for the Sioux Falls area for Monday. Then a Wind Chill Warning is in effect Monday night into Tuesday.
A Wind Chill Warning means the combination of very cold air and the wind will create dangerously low wind chill values. Frost bite can occur quickly and even hypothermia or death if precautions are not taken. A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will combine to create low wind chills. Frost bite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
The high Monday is expected to be four below.with a north northwest wind at 20 to 25 mph creating wind chills as low as -30.
Monday night it'll drop to about -11, with wind chills around -28.
Tuesday high of 5 and wind chills near -30.
