Sioux Falls resident Betty J. Cross was the last person seen with Chosen. His parents in Sioux Falls considered Betty a trusted friend and someone they felt comfortable leaving Chosen with. According to the South Dakota Missing Persons website, Chosen went missing on Thursday, February 27th. He's only 7 months old.

Rumors online were swirling that Baby Chosen was found earlier in the day on March 5th. This news was confirmed by the Sioux Falls Police Department, and to the surprise of many, Chosen was found over 12 hours away from home in Michigan.

Cross was located by authorities in Detroit, Michigan on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, and taken into custody.  The child involved in this case was found and is in protective custody in Michigan.  Cross will be held in Michigan pending extradition to South Dakota.  South Dakota Department of Social Services Child Protection was made aware and will facilitate the return of the child to South Dakota. Michigan authorities reported the child appeared unharmed.

Betty Cross is officially in custody and has been arrested for 1st Degree Kidnapping. No other details have been released about why Betty Cross left with Chosen and traveled across state lines.

The important thing is that Chosen is safe and will be home in South Dakota soon!
