Celebrity Ride to Cross South Dakota

You could call it, good people, doing good things. I was reading my hometown newspaper today (Lyman County Hereld) and read, NASCAR legend, Kyle Petty is heading a group of motorcycle riders across the United States.

The Kyle Petty Celebrity Charity Ride across America is celebrating it's 23rd anniversary and the route this year comes through South Dakota. The Ride, led by former NASCAR driver and NBC Sports racing analyst Kyle Petty, will travel across the Pacific Northwest. According to their website;

The Ride will leave Portland, Oregon, on May 13 and arrive in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on May 19, covering eight states in seven days. Petty will lead 200 bikers on' the week long, 2,400-mile route to raise funds and awareness for Victory Junction – a camp dedicated to providing life-changing camping experiences for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses.

The site went on to say;

Fans are encouraged to come support the cause and greet riders at one of the Ride’s seven overnight stops or daily pit stops. Spectators along the route may also purchase memorabilia or contribute to the Ride’s “Small Change. Big Impact.” program, which accepts donations at each stop.

Overnight stops in South Dakota include Deadwood and Mitchell. We'll update this story when we find out where they will stay overnight. The ride will also be making a pit stop at The Coffee Cup in Vivian.

This years celebrity riders include NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty and Donnie Allison; Former NFL and greatest college football player of all time, Herschel Walker; Heisman Trophy winner and Super Bowl Champion George Rogers and more.
