Authorities Identify Lake Madison Drowning Victim

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Authorities have identified a 22-year-old California man who drowned in Lake Madison in eastern South Dakota.

Lake County Sheriff Tim Walburg says Sahil Dass of San Mateo, California drowned after he dove off the back of a boat Sunday night.

Dive teams recovered the body at about 8:30 p.m.

Authorities say the area where the man dove into was only about 6 feet deep. He wasn't wearing a life jacket.

Lake Madison is about 40 miles northwest of Sioux Falls.
