ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — Three cows are still on the loose in the Aberdeen area nearly a week after several dozen cattle got loose from a livestock auction.

About 45 cows ran away from Hub City Livestock last Wednesday when a gate on a pen was not chained securely. About half were caught that day, and most of the rest were found by the end of the week.

Hub City Livestock Co-owner Rick Hellwig tells the American News that the three cows still missing likely have mixed in with other herds by now. The sale barn isn't actively searching for them.
