ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — Some 240 people in Aberdeen are looking for new jobs after the Wyndham Hotel Group announced it will close its longtime office in the northeast South Dakota city.

The Aberdeen American News reports that the company has had a presence in Aberdeen for more than 40 years. Wyndham's Super 8 chain was founded in the city. Employees help customers with hotel reservations.

Amanda Lindgren has worked at the Wyndham office since June 2014 and previously worked there for three and a half years before she moved to Watertown. She resolves complaints from customers and talks with the hotel and its customers to find resolutions.

Lindgren says she loves her job and her fellow workers are like family.

The state labor department is assisting those displaced.
