If you've ever heard the crashing sounds of cymbals (and I'll bet you have), you can thank Robert Zildjian for the noise.

While you may not be familiar with the name, no doubt you've witnessed the playing of his product, whether at High School band concerts, rock and roll shows or your favorite country music.

According to the Associated Press, the world's foremost Cymbla maker has passed away.

(AP) - If you're a drummer, you've probably played this man's cymbals.

Robert Zildjian has died at the age of 89, but no details were given about his death.

As a teenager, Zildjian started working in the family cymbal business, Avedis Zildjian Company. He got in a legal battle with his brother, Armand, over their inheritance, and in 1981, Zildjian founded the Sabian cymbal company.

Sabian and Zildjian are the top two cymbal manufacturers in the world.
