YANKTON, S.D. (AP) — Yankton has been selected to host the 2018 World Archery Indoor Championships and the 2020 World Archery Field Championships.

The Yankton Press and Dakotan reports that World Archery on Monday announced the host countries for its world championship events through 2020. Cities in China, Italy, Canada and Netherlands also were chosen as sites for the upcoming tournaments.

USA Archery CEO Denise Parker said in a news release Monday that she's glad World Archery is awarding Yankton with more international competitions after the city hosted a successful World Archery Youth Championships this summer.

The only other time the World Archery Indoor Championships was held in the U.S. was in 2012 in Las Vegas. The last time the World Archery Field Championships was held in the U.S. was in 1969 in Pennsylvania.
