PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota woman has been sentenced in federal court for embezzling rent money while managing a low-income apartment complex in the Rosebud Indian Reservation town of Mission.

Forty-nine-year-old Donna Peterson was sentenced to six months of home confinement and four years of probation. She also was fined $2,000 and ordered to pay more than $32,000 in restitution.

U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says Peterson took the money while managing the Sunrise Village Apartment Complex from 1996 to 2008. She pleaded guilty to theft in March.
