COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina woman serving a life sentence for killing four members of her family brought them together to pray hours before she shot them.

Documents obtained by The Associated Press show Susan Hendricks told investigators she asked her two sons and ex-husband to pray for her oldest son, Matthew Hendricks, who was sad because no one remembered his birthday the day before.

Authorities say Hendricks tried to pin the October 2011 killings of her younger son, ex-husband and stepmother on Matthew, who was found shot in the head.

The documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act also show Hendricks tried to kill herself with an overdose behind bars.
