Woman Convicted in Arson, Insurance Case Sentenced to Prison
HERREID, S.D. (AP) — A woman convicted of setting fire to a bar and grill she co-owned in Herreid to get insurance money has been sentenced to four years in prison.
Forty-two-year-old Lori Brandner also was fined $377.
A jury in February found Brandner guilty of arson, conspiracy to commit arson and filing a fraudulent insurance claim in the January 2015 fire at the Roadhouse Bar and Grill. A judge later granted her the opportunity for a retrial, but she declined and in July pleaded guilty in a deal with prosecutors.
