RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — A 29-year-old Rapid City woman accused of raping a 14-year-old boy and videotaping the acts has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

April Solles in August pleaded guilty but mentally ill to charges of sexual contact with a minor and rape. Prosecutors in return dropped a child pornography charge. She must serve half of her sentence before becoming eligible for parole.

The case started unfolding late in 2011 when Solles' 1-year-old girl died of a head injury. A 14-year-old boy was charged with murder in juvenile court but authorities have not said if he is the same boy in the rape case.

The Rapid City Journal reports that defense attorney Paul Winter called the case a "tragedy wrapped around a tragedy."
