Maybe 'Wings Of A Dove' shouldn't be called 'Country/Gospel'. Maybe it should be called 'Christian Country' or 'Country Spiritual'. Or maybe we should just call it....

One great song.

It was Country Music Hall of Famer Ferlin Husky who recorded the song back in 1960 (Bob Ferguson wrote it) and brought it to the top of the Country Music chart. It also was a Top Twenty Pop hit. It spent some nine months total on the country charts and was Ferlin's final number one country hit.

A great song is, of course, recorded by many artist's and 'Wings Of A Dove' is no exception. In fact, I think one of the most beautiful versions was recorded by Hall of Famer's Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and Tammy Wynette on their 1993 album 'Honky Tonk Angels'. Listen to their absolutely beautiful harmonies.

And for me, there's a personal feeling for the song. It happened to be one of my Dad's all time favorite songs (Along with Roy Acuff's 'Great Speckled Bird'). We played Ferlin singing it at my Dad's funeral nearly 10 years ago.
