They've been out since January 1st, you see more and more of them everyday, you might even have one on your car already. I'm referring to the new 2016 South Dakota license plates.

So after staring at them for a couple of months now, what do you think?

It seems like the general consensus is most South Dakotan's think the new plates stink!

Yep, the people have spoken, and the new South Dakota plates are getting anything but rave revues.

The plate is similar to the old Mount Rushmore plate design, but with different coloring. Instead of a white and silver background, the new plate uses yellows and browns to accentuate the Rushmore monument.

A common complaint from most drivers is the new beige-on-blue plates are too dark and look dirty. Some also say the faces of the presidents aren't positioned at the right angles. Most notably, Washington is facing the wrong direction.

Another often heard concern is that the shading on the new plates makes the identifying numbers and letters hard to read from a distance.

If you ask me, here's the most concerning thing, the state paid nearly 17 MILLION dollars to have these hard to read things made!

You better learn to like them, they'll be on your car until 2021. South Dakota signed a five-year deal with a California-based company to have them produced.
