Whatever Happened To Susan Raye

Susan Raye, a native of Eugene, Oregon, was first ‘discovered’ in the 1960′s and had a number of duet hit’s with Country Music Hall of Famer Buck Owens. Susan was also a featured performer on the legendary ‘Hee-Haw‘ television series.

Susan’s signature song came in 1971. ‘L.A. International Airport’ was a huge hit, not only in the United States, but around the globe. It was #1 in New Zealand and #2 in Australia!

Susan Raye was the first major female country star not to record in Nashville (she recorded in Bakersfield, California with the likes of Buck Owens and Merle Haggard).

So whatever happened to Susan Raye?

Well, she retired from her music career in 1986 and being a devoted Christian, she has had a successful career since as a Christian psychologist.
