You might say Shelly West came upon her incredible country music singing talent honestly.  After all, her Mom Dottie is a Country Music Hall of Famer and is one of country music's greatest legends.

Shelly was born May 23, 1958 in Cleveland, Ohio.

But Shelly didn't just live off her famous Mom, she's had a very successful career of her own, garnering a solo #1 hit in 1983 with "Jose Cuervo" and of course her duet hits with David Frizzell, including the 1981 smash #1 hit  "You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma".

David is, of course, the brother of country music legend Lefty Frizzell, so there was some might fine country music blood running through the vein's of these country stars!

So whatever happened to Shelly West?

Following her mother's untimely death in 1991 due to an auto accident Shelly went into  semi-retirement, focusing on her family. She has performed occasionally both as a solo and with David Frizzell. Shelly is 62 years old.
