Whatever Happened To Moe Bandy?
There are a number of country music legend’s that have had several classic songs.
There are a select few that have what’s called a ‘signature song’, a song that still lives and breathes today, all these years later. A song that defined the artist’s career.
But how many country artist’s (or in any musical genre’) have a signature song that has their own name in the title??
Welcome to Moe Bandy‘s 1975 country music smash ‘Bandy, The Rodeo Clown’.
The song was written by 2 country music legend’s, Lefty Frizzell and Whitey Shaffer.
And while Moe had several outstanding Top 10 country hit’s (including duet’s with Janie Fricke and his famous duet partner Joe Stampley), it would be ‘Bandy The Rodeo Clown’ that people would clamor for and sing along with.
So whatever happened to country star Moe Bandy?
Well, the Meridian Mississippi native is alive and well at the age of 70. He opened his own theater in Branson Missouri and still performs there (and elsewhere) regularly.
Oh, by the way, Moe and his brother did participate in rodeo’s all around the south, particularly Texas. He and his brother were inducted into the Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2007.
And no, he wasn’t a rodeo clown. But he sure did have a huge hit singing about it!
