Whatever Happened To Johnny Duncan?
1976 through 1978 could well be remembered as the year’s of Johnny Duncan in Country Music. He had 7 Top 10 hits in those 3 years, including 3 #1 hits.
Johnny came out of Dublin, Texas (by the way, his cousin was the late great Dan Seals) and got to Nashville by way of Clovis, New Mexico. First working as a disc jockey, Johnny eventually signed with Columbia Records.
It was the songs he recorded with country star Janie Fricke that put Johnny on the country music ‘map’. Hit’s like ‘Stranger’, ‘It Couldn’t Have Been Any Better’ and ‘She Can Put Her Shoes Under My Bed’ made Johnny a household name in country music circles.
But Johnny’s fortunes were changing in the 1980′s along with country music’s styles.
Johnny was only 67 when he died of a heart attack in 2006.
