Whatever Happened To Dick Curless?
Dick Curless had a unique sound and a unique look.
The unique look, of course, because of the patch he wore over his right eye.
The sound because his deep rich voice could be heard for years, particularly over the radio’s in cab’s of trucks.
If you ask the ‘older’ truckers who they listened to when they traveled those endless miles night and day across the highways and interstates of the U.S., they would probably say names like Dave Dudley…Red Sovine…and Dick Curless.
Dick had his biggest hit in 1965 with ‘Tombstone Every Mile’, a Top 5 national country music smash. The Korean War veteran was introduced to millions of country music fans around the country and the world while he toured with ‘Buck Owens All-American Show’ in the late 1960′s.
Dick Curless passed away in 1995 at the age of 63. But right now, let’s take a trip down a dangerous stretch of road, one which might have ‘A Tombstone Every Mile’.
