I've worked retail part-time for a few years now, and it totally changed how I shop.

When I go into another store now, I find myself straightening racks. I have to literally stop myself sometimes. "You don't work here. Stop it." I'm sure, however, the people that do work there do appreciate my help.

When I try things on in the fitting room, I always put stuff back on the hangers and fold things nicely. I know most places prefer they put it away so that it gets done correctly, but I will do it if I remember where I found it. I feel like I work retail, I got this.

And the number one thing I don't do anymore is go into a store right before closing time. It is the worst.

As an employee you have to fake nice when you really want to run the customer out! The couple times I have found myself in a store or restaurant around closing time, I immediately left and apologized for not realizing what time it was.

One time the employee apologized to me and I was like, "No, I'm just trying to make your life easier. I've been you before. I will totally leave."

So when I saw this video making the rounds on Facebook yesterday I knew I had to share it. Sums up retail perfectly.
