What Makes A High School Reunion Good?

It’s the time of year for high school reunions. Now that takes some energy mentally if you plan on attending yours. Be prepared for everything you weren’t expecting.

These aren’t the kids you went to school with anymore. They, like you, have traveled the journey of life. And it all has taken it’s toll on everyone along with the aging process.

The success and failures in profession, finances, marriage, raising children and health have all changed the people you remember from those precious days of childhood and going to school.

The number on your reunion will greatly affect how good of a time you will have. From my personal experience, here’s what I recall about what made a high school reunion good or bad:

5 Year: Not that much fun at all. Everybody was fired up about what they were planning on doing with their life. Such as a college degree now in hand and I’m going to go on to be important.

10 Year: Worse yet. Now it was, look at what I have done and how great I am.

15 Year: One of the funnest times I ever had with these people. All of a sudden everyone was relaxed about life and just wanted to have fun together.

25 Year: More fun, but the weight of life had started to show. And those pretty girls from yesterday sure looked different.

These are the ones that I was able to attend. Seeing old buddies, people that you never liked and old flings is quite the experience.

The shock was having my old high school girlfriend introduce me to her husband. The real shock was when he said: ‘So you’re Mark!’
