Hamm's Beer was brewed from "the land of sky blue waters."  And that started more than 100 years ago.

Now, the land is the site of organic vegetables and urban farm raised fish.

The old Hamm's Brewery in St. Paul, Minnesota was transformed into the new Urban Organics aquaponics farm in October of 2013.  The 6-story building now is used to raise tilapia fish and fresh green produce.

According to The Pioneer Press, aquaponics is a method of raising fish and vegetables symbiotically. The nutrient-rich waste water from the fish tanks is used to grow the vegetables hydroponically --"planting" them in water instead of dirt -- and the vegetables purify the water, which is recycled into the fish tanks.
