A former West Central teacher who admitted to a sexual relationship with a student under the age of consent appeared in court on Wednesday August 31, 2016 and has been indicted on counts of sexual contact with a student.

A Minnehaha County grand jury indicted 29 year-old Kari Boll on 21 felony counts including nine counts of fourth degree rape, nine counts of sexual contact with a child under 16, two counts of sexual exploitation and one count of solicitation of a minor.

Both Boll and the student say the relationship was consensual, however due to the nature of the student being under the age of consent, authorities were contacted when the information was made known to a mandatory reporter.

An affidavit says at one point, Boll wanted to hold off on sexual contact until after the student turned 16.

Boll worked as a special education teacher at West Central for the last three years and served as a tutor to the student associated with the charges.  The school says it was believed to be an isolated incident and that no other students were involved.

Boll resigned last month.
