Normally I'm not one to tell someone what to wear on any given day.  But on Monday, October 6th, 2014, it's important for everyone to wear a Blue Shirt.  No, it's not to support a favorite team, but a Blue Shirt will help to bring awareness to the problem of bullying.

Because October is National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month, Blue Shirt Day World Day of Bullying Prevention is one day that focuses on the goal of putting an end to bullying, cyber-bullying, digital abuse and hatred.

Thousands of schools across the United States are already participating and encouraging students and staff to wear a Blue Shirt to show solidarity and help stop the problem of bullying.  Getting a school near you to participate is easy.  Simply click on this form and fill out the information.

The problems of bullying, cyber-bulling, digital abuse and hatred are not just a problem that affects children behind school walls, however.  Adults trying to live an ordinary life can also be affected by these problems at home or in the workplace.

Companies are also being encouraged to ask their employees to wear a Blue Shirt to help create a "sea of blue", bringing awareness to bullying in all forms.  To get a workplace involved in Blue Shirt Day, complete this form.

I know, simply wearing a Blue Shirt won't fix the problem of bullying.  But if everyone wears a Blue Shirt in support of trying to stop the problem of bullying in our schools, communities and workplaces, that can be a positive step in the right direction.  Wear your favorite Blue Shirt on Blue Shirt Day, Monday, October 6th, 2014, because someone you know could be a victim of a bully.

The song "Stand Up" in this Blue Shirt Day PSA was donated by Sugarland.
