WATERTOWN, S.D. (AP) — A Watertown man cleared of charges he killed his ex-girlfriend's toddler plans to change his plea on at least one new charge so he doesn't have to stand trial again.

A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday morning in Watertown for Jay Barse.

Details of the agreement with the 26-year-old haven't been released.

Barse is charged with child abuse involving a victim younger than 7, drug possession and keeping a place for use or sale of a controlled substance.

A jury acquitted him Nov. 4 of murder and manslaughter for the March death of 14-month-old Serenity Seaboy.

Jurors watched a videotaped police interview during which Barse acknowledged hitting the girl in the head four days before she went to the hospital in a separate incident from the allegation in the trial.
