Last night had a "big game feel" going into it between Washington and Pierre. It didn't take long for that feeling to go away.

Washington (5-1) put on a show defensively against Pierre (5-1) allowing just 54 total offensive yards (111 passing, -57 rushing). Offensively the Warriors scored four times on the ground and rushed for 363 yards. Jack Schelhaas threw for 120 with another 3 touchdowns though the air. The Warriors secured a 49-7 win at Howard Wood Field.

Washington will travel to face Watertown next week. Pierre returns home against Aberdeen Central.

Tonight:

The Roosevelt Rough Riders (5-0) are back at Howard Wood Field following a dominating 40-9 win last week against Rapid City Stevens. Roosevelt's Piercen Evans suffered a stinger that caused the game between Roosevelt and Stevens to be ended. Luckily Evans was able to regain movement in his arms and legs, but Jay Elsen of Midco Sports Network says that Evans has been advised to not play football again.

We hope for the best for Evans. His team will take the field without him against a Brookings (3-2) team that rushed for 456 yards against Lincoln two weeks ago. The Bobcats defeated Lincoln 28-22, as Gerald Maxwell rushed for 225. Last week was another good week for Maxwell as he rushed for over 100 yards in a win against Huron.

Those numbers are not just a indication of a couple of games. Brookings is very good with the rush, and might not even attempt to pass. In the game against Lincoln, the Bobcats had a total of 0 passing yards in the win. They have size up front on the offensive line, but they're going to have a tough test with a stout Roosevelt defensive line.

Roosevelt is quick to strike offensively with most their drives lasting between one to three minutes. If they manage to get a couple scores ahead then it will become difficult for Brookings to come back with just a run game.

Brookings and Roosevelt will have an early 5:00 start tonight at Howard Wood Field.
