SPRINGFIELD - Mike Durfee State Prison Warden Bob Dooley says he'll take a hands-on approach with the added responsibilities of director of prison operations for the South Dakota Department of Corrections.

Dooley tells the Yankton Press and Dakotan that he's taking on the new position in addition to his present duties as warden in Springfield, Yankton and Rapid City.

Dooley is assuming the new duties upon the retirement of Warden Doug Weber this summer. A search for a new warden for Sioux Falls will be conducted.

As director of prison operations, Dooley will serve as the chief warden and oversee the management of all adult facilities in South Dakota. His responsibilities include the penitentiary in Sioux Falls and the women's prison in Pierre. He'll report directly to the state corrections secretary.
