Lots of retailers release their lists of "hot toys" for the holiday season, but Walmart decided to do something different this year by having actual kids play with new toys and pick their favorites. So Walmart got some 1,000 boys and girls aged 18 months to 10 years old to spend time over a weekend in August playing with more than 50 toys and choosing the ones they liked the most. The result is a list of 20 "Chosen By Kids" toys that Walmart released Thursday (September 12th) that it intends to promote for the upcoming holiday season with special shelf space and prominent positions on its website, starting later this month. Among the kids' choices were new takes on classic toys, like a robotic Furby and Barbie Dreamhouse, TV-show related toys, and cuddly interactive toys, including an Elmo doll that gives hugs.
